It’s more than just the place with
the tourist information centre. Lyndhurst has some of the best amenities, hotels
and places to eat throughout the New Forest. Many holiday makers to the New
Forest make it their choice to stay, and a base from which to visit the other
parts of the national park.
It’s in Lyndhurst that the
interesting New Forest Museum is based, something of interest if you
would like to learn more about the age old traditions and history of the New
Forest.
Queens House
is also a pleasant place to see, as is Swan Green where you can watch a
traditional game of cricket. Also nearby Lyndhurst is the sleepy little hamlet
of Minstead (famous as being the resting place of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle). Also
nearby is the optimistically titled “reptile centre” – a few tanks with
small reptiles. It’s no Disney-world mind you.
Some places to eat in Lyndhurst
include The Traditional Tea House & Mad Hatter Tea Rooms. Imperial
China is also worth a trip to if you’re in the mood for a good oriental feast.
