Lymington is a charming little seaside
port which has lots to offer the holidaymaker in New Forest. It’s location
right on the coast gives it an obvious appeal, with charming little towns like
New Milton and Milford on Sea close by. In fact, some of the best beaches in
England are found between Lymington and Poole, so if you’re a beach lover this
coastal stretch will be a find.
Lymington itself is English charm
personified – the pleasant town is dotted with lovely Georgian houses. It’s
worth visiting the Museum & Visitors Centre in New Street to bone up on some
of the local history of the region.
At Fisherman's Quay, situated along
Lymington River, a line of yatch's are banked and it’s a nice place to come
for a little fresh air and relaxation.
Close to Lymington are the Lymington
& Keyhaven Nature Reserves and Braxton Gardens. Further south
from Keyhaven is the interesting Hurst Castle – from where you can
catch some stunning views of Isle of Wight. Slightly west of Keyhaven is the
beach town of Milford on Sea, and further west still is Barton on Sea.
