Facts About The New Forest...
<
There are numerous reasons why a
holiday to the New Forest is so very special. It has a lot of history, wonderful
little towns and villages to visit and natural beauty that rivals any in the
world.
Just some of the wildlife that you
will see on your holiday to the New Forest are deers, ponies, cows, pigs, horses
and a wide variety of interesting birds. Indeed, the area is a favourite with
the bird watching crowd. The horses and ponies are particularly common and can
usually be seen wandering on and around the fields by the roadside. Some ponies
have been spoilt by visitors feeding them, so if you make a stop to take a photo
don’t be surprised to see them wandering up to you and even sniffing you in
their search for food.
During certain periods when the gorse
blooms, the forest is covered in a blanket of yellow where these bushes are
spread. This can make for a stunning view.
There are also some exquisite thatched
cottages in and around the new forest that are hardly in keeping with the 21st
century.
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is buried in a
small New Forest Town called Minstead – he’s most famous for several books
including “The White Company” which is based on events that happen in the
New Forest.
